ONE THING

Luke 10:40-42...But Martha was distracted with much serving, and she approached Him and said, "Lord, do you not care that my sister has left me to serve alone? Therefore, tell her to help me." "And Jesus answered and said, to her, Martha, Martha, you are worried and troubled about many things. But ONE THING is needed, and Mary has chosen that good part, which will not be taken away from her."

What takes your attention? What do you spend your time on? Many christians have given much time to 'activities' in the Church and have neglected the ONE THING that is most important. Both Martha and Mary were in the Church but each was giving attention to two different things. A lot of people are in the Church today but the Church is not in them.

Friends, the world we live today is full of pleasurable distractions just like the one that Martha involved herself in. Note, Martha was not doing anything wrong, after all, she was preparing meal for Jesus and the rest of them. Likewise, a lot of christians are giving more attention to a whole lot of activities and religious rituals in church to the neglect of that ONE THING.

To show the seriousness of the matter, Jesus repeated Martha's name twice. Activities and religiousity will not grant you eternal life. The ONLY THING that guarantee eternal life is to give attention to HIS WORD just like Mary did. Brother and Sister, ONE THING is needed and that one thing can not be taken away from you. Most of the things people give attention to is ephemeral, it does not last long, it would fail ultimately, only the WORD OF GOD never fails.

Mary came to an understanding that there is one type of food that you partake in and you will never go hungry again. But, Martha was busy looking after a food that can not last, the type you eat and you will go hungry again. What are you giving attention to in your life?

Pray it aloud; Lord, I seek that ONE THING today!

Shalom

THE POWER IN THE WORD

Luke 5:17- "Now it happened on a certain day as He was teaching, that their were Pharisees and teachers of the law sitting by, who had come out of every town of Galilee, Judea and Jerusalem. And the POWER of the Lord was present to heal them".

Where the word of God is, there is POWER! Friend, I come to you today to challenge you to check on which ground you are standing on. It is a pity that the body of Christ is no more experiencing the power of God. Anywhere the word of God is preached, the only sign to show that truly God is there, is that power will descend and the people will feel and know it and be delivered.

There are too many Bible scholars in our world today whose only pre-occupation is to give lectures and tell Bible stories. Often, they are very eloquent and they speak impeccable English language but their teaching lacks power because they are empty. People have been deceived with sharp designer suit wearing Pastors and their motivational speaking style laced with tongue speaking, but at the end of the day, the people depart the way they came without any impartation.

In the text today, Jesus was teaching and the Bible recorded that POWER descended. That is the hallmark of the teaching/preaching of the word. The word of God must convince, convict, impart, heal, change, deliver and lift people into purpose. If you attend a Church where the teaching/preaching of the word is not impacting your life positively please leave and seek God elsewhere.

The word of God is sharper than a two edged sword piercing into the bone marrow...Immediately after pentecost, when Peter preached, the Bible recorded that over three thousand was added unto the disciples- that is the power of the Word!

I challenge you today to seek where the word of God is drawing the power of God down for the healing of His people.

Pray with me: father, let the power of your word work in my life.

Shalom!

I STAND

Though I was born with no silver spoon
I stand.

Though my cradle was not laid with fine warm linen
I stand.

Though I crawl in the dirt of the cold mornings
I stand.

The meal might not have been three squared
I stand.

Though I trod the cold ground of the mornings with sliced feet
I stand.

My learning might have stuttered
I stand.

Though the golden fleece was like a mirage
I stand.

The world questioned; Who are you? Yet,
I stand.

For I know who I am, therefore,
I stand.

I am extraordinary because I know who I am, hence,
I stand.

LET'S TALK ABOUT LOVE...

Luke 2:37..."Now when they heard this (WORD), they were cut to the heart, and said to Peter and the rest of the apostles; men and brethren, what shall we do?

Has the word of God cut your heart so deep enough that you are desirous of sharing that God type of love? Don't be deceived, the earthly love is limited, and it discriminates. There is no love in the natural human heart. Love can only spring from the recreated human spirit, that is, a heart that has been touched by the incorruptible word of God.

Until you receive eternal life, (born again) that is, the nature of God, you can't be a love man. You can only have a sense knowledge of love which is not real. God is a love God. Love is His nature. When you become born again, you receive the nature of God. That nature brings into you LOVE, and you build that love by feeding on God's word. The word is the only source of strength for the recreated human spirit; the only source of building the God like kind of LOVE. Love can't be built on your abstract reasoning, its only built by acting on the word. When you meditate on the word, you built love in your spirit. That's the kind of love that endures, its the kind of love that loves the unlovables.

Friend, you have to desire it. It does not drop on your laps just like that. See the text today; the people asked the apostles, "what shall we do?" Until you ask, you can't receive. The world have perverted love because they don't understand it, it takes a desire to know God and take on His nature for you to be able to appropriate it. The love of God is supreme, its the most excellent way, it lifts us outside ourselves and allows us to see beyond the natural range of human vision. Love of God inspires us to transcend who we are tempted to settle for. It defines us and shapes us into the person we were originally designed to be. Believe me brother and sister, no financial gratification in the world can pay for it!

Pray for LOVE today.

Shalom!

SEARCH UNTIL YOUR JOY IS FULL

Luke 15:8-9..."Or that woman, having ten silver coins, if she loses one, does not light a lamp, sweep the house, and search carefully until she finds it?"

The plan of God for you is to be fulfilled in all areas of your live. Whoever is telling you anything to the contrary is telling you a big lie. God is a God of completeness, the plan of God for you is to have everything He has planned and purpose for you. The only thing that can stop you is you! The woman lost a coin out of ten, but until she found the lost coin her joy was not complete. You are destined to be complete and settled on all sides.

Friend, this woman kept searching until her joy was full. Note how she went searching and looking for that last thing that completed her joy;

1) She lit a lamp- "Your word is a lamp to my feet and a light to my path"- Psl 119:105. Its only through the word of God that you can find lasting solutions to the missing joy in your life. With the lamp of the word of God you see yourself better and see the future from the eye of the word.

2) She sweep the house- she did away with every filth, uncleanliness, past and old garbage, she renewed her relationships. It takes the WORD to get illumination to sweep away old garbage preventing you to have joy back in your life. Even Jesus had to clean up His father's house from filth and perversion- Matt. 21:12.

3) She searched until answer came- Do you give up easily? Continue to use the lamp (word) to clear and clean up, and continue to search. She never took her hand off the plough. She continued to seek God until she found what was lost. She never gave up!

I challenge you today to keep using the lamp to sweep and continue to search. Pray, seek him by faith in season and out of season. All this incubates that which God is about to do, the longer the incubating period, the bigger the joy to complete your life.

Pray with me; I will find that which completes my Joy IJN!

CAN YOU KEEP A SECRET?

Have you ever considered if Abraham informed his wife, Sarah about the fact that God instructed him to take their only son, Isaac and sacrifice him on mount Moriah? Your guess is as good as mine. "And Abraham said to his young men, stay here with the donkey; the lad and I will go yonder and worship, and we will come back to you"- Gen.22:5.

Do you also notice that, Abraham did not also tell his servants who travelled with him on this journey? The last time Abraham's wife knew about the fact that God promised him a son from his own loins, she persuaded Abraham to have a child through her maid. At every moment you want to figure out God's instruction with your own sense knowledge, it would always lead to chaos. This time around, Abraham kept this instruction to himself, he did not tell Sarah, not even the servants who travelled with him.

A lot of people have short changed and diverted their own destinies because they are too flippant. It is not everything about your life that you should talk to people about. I call it verbal diarrhoea- talking too much and inability to keep secret. Believe me brother and sister, you must have a secret!

It is not everything about God's plan for your life and destiny that must be shared with other people. Your life should not be an open editorial. Friend, some things are best kept secret until the day of their showing. Either you like it or not, it is not every one that wants your head lifted- that is a fact! Even people around you who meant well for you might give you a wrong interpretation of what God is asking you to do thereby leading to destiny derailment.

When there is a divine instruction, wait on God like Abraham did, and the God of the instruction will show you the way to go.

Pray with me; Father, I ask for grace to keep divine secret.

Shalom!

OBEDIENCE IS KEY

Gen 22:2- "Then He said, take now your son, your only son, Isaac, whom you love, and go to the land of Moriah, and offer him there as a burnt offering on one of the mountains of which I shall tell you."

Faith is a key component of our christian work and walk with God. Its what gives us the ability to appropriate what belongs to us from the throne of grace. But, today I want us to talk about obedience. Your faith is anchored on your ability to obey and do that which God is asking you to do. To obey is to be faithful. God attach a lot of importance to the issue of obedience, until you pass the test of obedience, you are not qualified to be called faithful. Abraham is called the father of faith, but have you taken time to find out what qualified him to be called so? Time and time again, God will always test and qualify his people with their ability to obey His instructions.

What will qualify you for your breakthrough is your ability to obey God no matter how seemingly difficult the instruction looks like. Abraham took his son, his only son, whom he loves to be sacrificed as God as instructed. He obeyed God without any question and off he went.

Friend, the tougher the instruction, the greater the blessing God is about to unleash on you. The ram was already waiting for Abraham. Research says that a Ram can not climb an height as high as mount Moriah. This goes to show that every step you take in obedience, the Ram is waiting for you at the top. When you obey the seemingly impossible instruction, God is ready to bless you with what the world will call impossible blessing. When you radically obey, God will radically bless you in return.

Pray with me: Father grant me the grace for obedience.

Shalom!

GET OVER YOURSELF

Luke 15:1-7, 11-32. In continuation of the story of the prodigal son and his older brother....."So he answered and said to His father, lo, these many years I have been serving you, I never transgressed your commandments at anytime, and yet you never gave me a young goat that I might make merry with my friends"- vs.29.

The fact that you are serving God, without sin, and being able to overcome temptation is by the grace of God that is upon you. In the above bible text, count how many "I" that the older brother used when he was talking to his father. He believed "I" did everything. He refused to acknowledge the fact that he might have ended up like his younger brother if not for the grace of God. "Therefore, let him who thinks he stands take heed lest he fall"- 1Cor. 10:12.

That you are staying in the house of the father, strong, obeying and serving is not accomplished by you. The grace in the Fathers house kept you- Heb 12:28. Also, while you are serving in the Father's house, lack ye anything? Its all due to the grace of the Father. Be very careful, if you acknowledge God in all your life, all will be yours, but if you fail to, all can be taken away from you. "In all your ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct your paths"- Prov.3:6.

Friend, outside of God and His grace, you and I are nothing! "Know that the Lord, He is God. It is He who has made us and not we ourselves..."- Prov. 100:3. "But by the grace of God I am what I am"-1Cor. 15:10a.

Now, the question is; how do I deal with "I"? Beloved, an exchange must take place. "I" will have to give up what "I" have to take what He has for my life. "I" have to take what He has for my life. "I" must be crucified, then "I" no longer live. Gal 2:20-21.

Pray with me; "I" must die in Jesus name!

Shalom!

GRACE KEPT YOU IN THE HOUSE

Luke 15:1-7,11-32.
"So he answered and said to His father, Lo, these many years I have been serving you; I never transgressed your commandments at anytime, and yet you never gave me a young goat that I might make merry with my friends"- vs. 29.

We all know the parable of the prodigal son as recorded in the text for today, but the focus is not on the prodigal son but his older brother who was obedient and was at home serving the father. Are you like the older brother who feels that its by his own power that he was able to stay at home serving the father? Do you think because you are a Pastor, a worship leader, Usher or a worker in Church, you are superior to that man struggling with his christian life and faith?

It is time to know that, the same grace that brought the younger son to his senses, to go home is the same grace that kept the older brother in the house. The fact that you are serving God and faithful does not give you the right to look down on those who are weak in faith and are in sin. After all, he came for such that are struggling because the healthy need no physician but the one who is sick. "Then all the tax collectors and the sinners drew near to Him to hear Him. And the Pharisees and scribes complained saying, 'this man receives sinners and eats with them'"- vs. 1-2. Are you like the Pharisees?

Friend, it is only the grace of the father that kept you standing in His house. The moment you start to think like the older brother of the prodigal son, that thinks its all by his power and effort, you've missed it. The prodigal son, that is, that sinner is also created in the image of the father, and grace is still available to bring him to the knowledge and love of the father.

Pray with me; Lord, keep me grounded that I might know am standing by your grace.

Shalom!
SIN IS A SINKER

2Sam 11:1-4, 12:11-15
Sin is a sinker! If care is not taken, it can sink you into the abyss of total destruction. I believe you are familiar with the story of David and Bathsheba, and how David planned the death of her husband, Uriah after he had sexual relationship with her. There are two basic truth you need to know concerning the act of sin and also the grace of God to pull us out of the sinking ship of sin into eternal life.

First, stop acting smart, things you are hiding from man is not hidden from God- 2Sam12:12. Second, you know what is wrong before you do it. That is why David committed additional sin by killing Uriah, Bathsheba's husband. He knew before and after committing the sin that it was wrong. Don't blame other people and don't blame the devil. Its wrong to pass the bulk and blame others for your own mistake.

Beloved, believe me, it is an act of mercy for your sin to be exposed. If you read through today's text, David did not run away from God after his sin was exposed, rather he pressed towards God for mercy. Don't run away from God when you blow it, rather run towards Him. Don't let regret, shame and guilt hold you down. For a man who is forgiven, guilt can not hold him down.

When you sin, you have only broken fellowship, but not relationship with God. Our God is a merciful God. Above all, there is power and grace available to do what is right after doing what is wrong.

Cry unto Him today; Father, forgive and have mercy upon me!

Shalom!

OUR GOD IS PROGRESSIVE

Rom 8:19
God is a God of process and a God of little beginnings. He does not start anything big, that is why you as a person is a work in progress. When you were born is not the same time you became an adult. God is a progressive God.

Your revealing will also take a process. Don't despair, and don't be too much in a hurry. If you appear before your time, you will disappear before your time. " For the earnest expectation of the creation eagerly waits for the revealing of the sons of God". Your revealing is sure, it would happen.

God has shown from ages that He is a progressive God in the way He deals with His people. Even, your righteousness took a process and progression. It started with a lamb for a man to atone for sin, after that, a lamb for a family, then a lamb for a whole nation and finally a LAMB for the whole world. Worthy is the Lamb that was slain for you and me.

Your first level of your work and walk is KNOWING HIM..."That I may know Him and the power of His resurrection..."-Phil 3:10. When you know Him, then, you receive AUTHORITY and POWER "...He who believes in Me, the works that I do, he will also do, and greater works than these he would do"-John 14:12. When you encounter and receive His power and authority, you are able to operate in the next level which is prosperity, "...beloved, I pray you may prosper in ALL things and be in health, just as your soul prospers". At this point all you seek after is holiness so you can be worthy to stand all the time. "Worship the Lord in the beauty of His HOLINESS"-(living in love).

Your work and walk of faith takes a process and progression so is your journey into destiny. Don't flinch, don't panic, just keep pressing towards the mark and I can assure you that your future is guaranteed!

Say it loud; I am on a marathon, not a dash! I will get there!

Shalom!

CAN GOD COUNT ON YOU?

Matt. 1:18-25
God will not make use of vessels that have not been tested and prepared. This is why your walk and work with God must be sure. Your heart must be right because that is what God looks at to choose those He would qualify and make use of for great exploits.

What would you do if you know that the woman, a virgin, that you are engaged to be married to is pregnant? Especially, when you are a Jew and you know the consequence of a woman getting pregnant out of wedlock. Your guess is as good as mine.

See vs. 19..."Then Joseph being a JUST man and not wanting to make her a public example, was minded to put her away secretly". It takes maturity, a good and compassionate heart to do what Joseph did. What kind of heart do you carry? God is still looking for men whose heart are turned and tuned to Him.

Also, can God speak for you like He spoke concerning David in Acts 13:22..."And when He had removed Him, He raised up for them David as King, to whom also He gave testimony and said, 'I have found David the son of Jesse, a man after My own heart, who WILL do ALL my will'". Can God give this testimony about you? Can He trust you with what is precious to Him and His kingdom? God trusted David to rule over Isreal, His chosen people. He trusted Joseph to treat Mary with respect and compassion.

No wonder, from the lineage of David, Joseph the carpenter, the husband of Mary, of whom was born Jesus who is called Christ was also born- Matt 1:16. Where are the Josephs of this generation?

Pray with me; Lord, I rise and stand to be counted among the Josephs of this generation in Jesus mighty name!

Shalom!

DO YOU QUALIFY FOR AN ANGELIC VISITATION?

The immaculate conception by the virgin Mary would continue to be a mystery and one of the greatest miracle of God against the devil. Have you ever wondered what qualified Mary for the divine assignment? Mary was in her late teens at the time of her conception and already engaged to Joseph, the carpenter.

The Bible confirmed that grace and divine favour singled Mary out for the assignment but, I discovered that there was something more that qualified her. This very attribute is lacking in many young christian women of this generation. See vs. 38..."Then Mary said, behold the maid servant of the Lord! Let it be to me according to your word...". Also, see vs. 45..."Blessed is she who believed, for there will be a fulfilment of those things which were told her from the Lord".

Yes, Mary was a recipient of God's gracious mercy. Nevertheless, according to vs. 38 and 45, Mary's OBEDIENCE and FAITH are clearly a model worth emulating among young christian women of today. As young as she was (teenager), she knew God intimately, she was faithful, obedient and was able to distinguish the voice of an angel. It was because she knew the voice that is of God. There was no confusion on her path about whether the voice was of God or not.

Imagine how a young lady who knows the consequence of getting pregnant out of wedlock in her jewish culture and yet was able to declare..."May it be unto me as you have spoken". How are we training our young women today? Are we training them to know and be able to hear and know the voice that is of God? Or is it only the voice of money and the perishable material things of this world that they recognise? Where are the Mary's of this generation?

Pray with me; the grace to train our young women father grant unto me.

Shalom!
